Pierre Bonnard retrospective at the "d'Orsay"
The artist life (1867-1947) spans two centuries, nineteenth century and first half of the twentieth century. Bonnard inherits from symbolism and the "masterclass" of Paul Gauguin an anti-realism in the use of saturated colours and blurred contours.
But he can also rival with the most rigorous compositions of cubist and theoretician Andre Lhote.
The themed exhibition will present the favorite subjects of the artist : the still-lifes, the nudes in their interior, and the landscapes of the countries he favored : Normandy, Dauphine and the French Riviera.
The size of the paintings evolve from small intimate formats towards monumental compositions.
