Mâcon is so charming and romantic! Place of birth of the French poet Alphonse de Lamartine, the city erects its facades alongside the Saone river. Its nice and clean pedestrian streets shelter the medieval atmosphere of the open-air markets and shops. However its town houses from the 18th century can be compared to the Parisian houses.
